Jeremy Woolhouse is rapidly making a name for himself in Melbourne as a versatile and captivating pianist. His distinctive sound embraces the traditions of Afro-American jazz and combines them with his passion for tango and Argentinean music. Elements of classical, European jazz, Brazilian and other world music enhance this characteristic, creating an individual and contemporary sound. Louisa Rankin with Roger Clark Quartet
Since completing her studies as an instrumentalist at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2000, Louisa has developed her musical talents as a vocalist, performing regularly around Melbourne in a variety of settings. Louisa is currently completing her final year at Monash University, studying jazz and improvisation with teachers including Gian Slater, Michelle Nicolle, and Alison Wedding. In November 2007, Louisa gained invaluable experience travelling to Italy as part of the inaugural Monash Jazz at Prato program, completing the three-week course which involved workshops with European musicians including Glauco Venier and Diana Torto. In 2008, Louisa’s composition ‘Brand New Day’ was selected by Tony Gould and Rob Burke for inclusion on their duo album, due for release later this year on the Move label.
Louisa will be performing standards, covers and originals.
